Throughout history tarot and oracle cards have been as used tools for divination across different cultures. However, these cards are used more than fortune telling. They are visual expressions of your soul's message to you. By using these cards, we can understand how to better navigate our life's journey with purpose and meaning. Kirsten has been reading tarot cards since high school. Tarot was her first tool that lead her to explore and strengthen her intuition and kick-start her spiritual journey. In her readings today, Kirsten likes to blend tarot and oracle cards together. The reader is allowed to choose which oracle deck to use in conjunction with the tarot cards. This allows the reading to be more personal and meaningful. What's the difference between oracle vs. tarot cards? Tarot cards have been used for hundreds of years for divination with a set structure. There are 78 cards in a deck. These 78 cards are divided into the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana cards. Other themes such as numerology and astrology, and religious symbolism is also infused into the tarot cards, particularly the Rider-Waite-Smith deck. This allows you to get an in-depth description of situations, timing, and people by reading Tarot that isn't really available to the same degree in Oracle card decks. Oracle cards are considered more modern than tarot. This deck is "free flowing," and can showcase any content. Popular oracle deck themes are angels, goddess, and spirit animals. Unlike tarot, oracle cards typically have less than 78 cards and do not have the Major or Minor Arcana cards. Many oracle decks display a simple sentence that describes the meaning of the card, whereas tarot only displays the name of the card.
